The New “STRONG by Zumba”

Hi guys! It’s me Taylor also known as the “Zumba Queen” here at Horizon Personal Training and Nutrition. I want to tell you about our new addition to the group fitness schedule!

I have been teaching this hot new workout on Saturday mornings at 9:00a.m., and I want to give all of you the lowdown on what it is all about!

The cult favorite dance workout, Zumba, has introduced a new program called “STRONG by Zumba.” It is described as a high intensity boot camp class with a musical twist. Instead of grooving to the music as you normally would in Zumba, the “STRONG By Zumba” program focuses on syncing music to functional strengthening moves. This means that in every class, the music and exercises work together to help give you a better, more effective workout. By incorporating “Synced Music Motivation,” the class is designed to motivate you– think of it as having the best workout playlist while hitting burpees– as it creates a way to change your thinking habits to power you through a high intensity workout. Keep in mind, this is NOT traditional Zumba. There are burpees, squat jumps, lunges, high knee shuffles and more! These moves are synchronized with beats, reggae, Latin, and other types of music that will get you going and moving, but do not expect to have a salsa dance party.

Some things to note about the new STRONG by Zumba:
• Ranging from medium to high intensity, once you give it your all, the class will increase your heart rate into the fat burning zone.
• Compared to Zumba, the footwork is easy to follow, so it is not as hard to keep up. You may find the moves themselves, however, to be harder, more challenging to perform and require more energy!
• STRONG by Zumba is the first non-dance based class from the fitness brand. No need to worry about shimmying or shaking –if you want to twerk it out, you can do a Zumba class three times a week!
• The newest of all Zumba classes revolves around high-intensity interval training, but still focuses on moving to the beat. Think of it as boot camp choreography…a bass that puts you in a squatting trance. And with the new lighting in the group room, the mood is instantly elevated! Definitely give it a try! Expect to sweat! Prepare to ignite and push your limits! Come experience Strong by Zumba 💪

The New “STRONG by Zumba”

Taylor took her first Zumba® class, and by the 3rd song in,  felt her whole world open up! It was the first time in her life that she felt a strong calling to make herself happy! She grew up watching MTV videos of Michael Jackson, Madonna and Paula Abdul and dreamt of dancing, but it was not something she had the courage to try. So at 38 years old, she figured this was it. Now or never! What started as a huge leap of faith for her just to make it up to the front row in class, snowballed into a series of giant leaps out of her Comfort Zone! Long story short, she never set out to teach. She was just living, breathing and dreaming Zumba®, and she believes the experiences that she has had in the last ten years have been truly magical!

Taylor feels she has been blessed with opportunities she never imagined possible. She has had the privilege of having 20 plus students become instructors themselves. She has made friendships that will last a lifetime. She has opened two of her own fitness studios and has hosted numerous training workshops. Taylor became licensed in Zumba® Basic 1&2 in 2008. In 2009, she took her training with the creator of Zumba® himself, Beto Perez. She is licensed in Zumba® Zumba® Toning Zumba® Gold Zumba® Kids Zumba® Step Zumba® Gold Toning Aqua Zumba® and Strong by Zumba® . She is also AFAA certified and CPR AED CERTIFIED.

In addition to being a Zumba Instructor, she is also a personal trainer. She decided that personal training would be a valuable and powerful tool in helping others be their best. She feels that connecting with others to help them find their strengths and build on them is an honor. One-on-one training or together on the dance floor, all she wants is to ignite your inner spark, and let you find your joy through music and movement! Everything else is icing!
